Lin Evola grew up on the south side of Chicago, where she learned that cultural differences bring both beauty and difficulty.
After she received Bachelor and Master of Fine Arts degrees from the San Francisco Art Institute, she became a professional artist, with solo exhibitions in museums and galleries in San Francisco, Chicago, Los Angeles, London and Paris. |

Ms. Evola relocated to Los Angeles, where she saw once again the contrast between local heroes and the human drama between cultures. By 1990, Evola became firmly established as an acclaimed artist.
In 1992, Ms. Evola became inspired to create a project utilizing art as a vehicle for evolutionary change. By researching many cultures and religions, she was able to note common reasons for war. She decided to transpose war into peaceful images to inspire mankind. This led to the creation of the Peace Angels Project and the formation of the 501c3 non profit Peace Angels Project.
Over the ensuing decade, Ms. Evola has been appointed to create 30-foot Peace Angel sculptures for Los Angeles, California, as well as for Johannesburg, South Africa, Bosnia/Herzegovina and for Jerusalem. In 2001, her 13-foot Renaissance Peace Angel sculpture in New York City received major media attention following the events of September 11th. In 2002, Ms. Evola received the award commission from Mr. Harry Belafonte's distinguished organization for the Sankofa Peace Award.
For eight years, Ms. Evola has also been the co-founder and artist of the highly esteemed "Angel of Peace Award" for the Violence Prevention Coalition of Greater Los Angeles. The Los Angeles Sheriff and Police Departments have endorsed the Peace Angels Project in Los Angeles and will be instrumental in receiving weapons donations throughout the county. Ms. Evola has been personally endorsed by both Sheriff Lee Baca and Eleanor Montano, the Human Rights Commissioner.
Evola also serves as the Artist-in-Residence for both the Praxis Peace Institute in Dubrovnik, Croatia, and for the Wilgespruit Fellowship Centre in Johannesburg, South Africa. The South African Nobel Laureates' Peace Memorial and Academy at Wilgespruit is allocating an entire mountaintop for her massive Peace Angel, "The Spirit of Africa", which they consider a national treasure.
In May of 2002, Ms. Evola met with President Halilovic and his Ministers in the city of Sarajevo, Bosnia / Herzegovina. In September, 2002, at the UN Summit in Johannesburg, the Peace Angel maquette was exhibited on opening day at the Joubert Park Museum. On October 20 2002, Joubert Park Museum unveiled a major exhibition of Evola's work and also unveiled the "Spirit of Africa" together with drawings and architectural plans for the Wilgespruit Fellowship Centre site. Dignitaries, including Nobel Peace Laureate and Archbishop Emeritus Desmond M. Tutu were in attendance.
The Peace Angels Project is also endorsed and supported by "Gun Free South Africa". In January, 2003, Ms. Evola visited the Democratic Republic of the Congo at the invitation of their Premier Vice President. She also met with the Minister of Arts as part of a peacekeeping mission. This was followed in April of 2003 by a special presentation of Evola's art at the prestigious National Arts Club in New York City where Ms. Evola had conferred upon her the highest title of Artist Life Member.
Ms. Evola's private collectors include: Bill and Hillary Clinton, Her Majesty Queen Noor al Hussein of Jordan, Sarah Brady, The Joseph Campbell Foundation, Marion Rockefeller Weber, Vera Pratt and Anne Cooling. Museums include: The Liberty National Museum in Philadelphia, Pa. Learning institutions include the Harvard School of Public Health through Deborah Prothrow-Stith, M.D. and Stanford University's Hoover Institute.
The original designs of the Peace Angels Project were created at the Los Angeles County Museum, California. The New York Renaissance Peace Angel drawings are being completed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. The testing of the metal of the Peace Angel maquettes was conducted at the Getty Museum, Los Angeles, California.
